Jilumudi Raghu Ram is a security analyst with over 5 years of experience in the information security domain, with a strong knowledge of incident response, digital forensics, network security, infrastructure penetration testing, and Secure configuration audits. He has conducted security audits for more than 70 networks, both internal and external, re-audits, secure configuration reviews, and server audits (Linux and Windows) for various organizations. One of his major clients has been the Government of India, where his team was responsible for conducting penetration testing assignments for various government bodies, as well as preparing vulnerability assessment and penetration testing reports, and supporting the clients to fix those vulnerabilities. When philosophers such as Plato and Aristotle became more famous and increased their followers’ base, the cynics ceased to exist as a school of thought. A short revival took place during the third century in Rome, showing that cynicism seems to thrive whenever corruption is an issue. The word cynicism itself might have originated from the Greek expression for dog, kyon, which is why cynics were frequently called the disciples of the dog. The most famous Greek cynic was Diogenes of Sinope, a student of Antisthenes. He became famous for carrying a light around during bright daylight, in order to find one honest man (Dean, Brandes and Dharwadkar, 1998). This act very well describes the way cynics think: A cynic is overly critical to any type of organization, believing that the individual is the natural unit of human life and therefore expecting others to behave in their self interest and opposing any institution, such as churches or even the government. Life Is Cheap In The Hands Of Hitler's Barbarians

This book by author Rupert Butler is a fairly quick read (185 pages of text) revealing the barbarity of members of Hitler's Third Reich in carrying out executions of millions of individuals. Numerous photos of the infamous characters both in their heyday and death add to the book's interest. Incidents such as the assassination of The Butcher of Prague, Reinhard Heydrich, and the July, 1944 bomb plot to assassinate Adolf Hitler are given detailed attention. I'm sure the text of this book can be found in many other volumes, but the photos chosen for the book are exceptional. Examples are the sinister Heydrich cuddling his youngest daughter, the destruction of the village of Lidice in reprisal of the death of Heydrich, Judge Roland Freisler showering venom onto a pathetic defendant at the People's Court, the ruins of the inside of the conference room at Rastenburg following the attempt on Hitler's life, close up pictures of Hitler's henchmen, some of them shown in death, and the ruins inside Hitler's bunker. A solid work on the dreaded Gestapo.

This is an excellent book which reads easily and never bores. The format of the book is well thought out, with many pictures, quotes, and sub-stories. The author's writing style is engaging and I could not put the book down once I started. The book's main focus is on the leading figures of the Gestapo to include Goring, Himmler, Heydrich and Kaltenbrunner and on the interagency politics between the Abwehr, SD, SS, and the Wehrmacht. Butler certainly pulls no punches, revealing the brutality of the Gestapo and the depravity of the mass murderers who led this twisted organization. While this book is well done, it is not an authoritative work and does not address Gestapo activities in areas such as the eastern front, the Baltics, and the Balkans. However, what the book does cover, it covers well. If you want a solid foundation on the Gestapo's activities in WWII then this is the book for you. I am glad I bought it and will retain it in my collection.

Picture book, not a history

Rupert Butler basically compiled a bunch of photos, added a little commentary about key members of the organization and said this was a history. This is not in fact a book about the Gestapo, but a group of biographical episodes tied together with a few events. There is not a single organizational chart or information on ranks, training, equipment - things normally associated with an organization. He provides some information of operations and then rapidly moves towards a conclusion with the end of the war and the trials for war crimes. Very disappointed.

Having taught and supervised students in counseling and family therapy for 20 years, she has authored numerous books, including MINDFULNESS AND ACCEPTANCE IN COUPLE AND FAMILY THERAPY, THE COMPLETE COUNSELING ASSESSMENT SYSTEM, MASTERING COMPETENCIES IN FAMILY THERAPY, THEORY AND TREATMENT PLANNING IN COUNSELING AND PSYCHOTHERAPY, and THE COMPLETE MFT CORE COMPETENCY ASSESSMENT SYSTEM. She is also co-editor of COLLABORATIVE THERAPY: RELATIONSHIPS AND CONVERSATIONS THAT MAKE A DIFFERENCE and co-author of THEORY-BASED TREATMENT PLANNING FOR MARRIAGE AND FAMILY THERAPISTS. I loved this book! Gehart's writing made the information easy to understand without sacrificing content. This book is perfect to have for a guide of treatment planning for many MFT sessions and approaches.

Theories for Dummies

I used this book instead of the required reading for my Theories and Techniques one and two classes. This book not only covers theories, it has treatment plans (yes treatment plans) and vignettes for each theory and it covered all the phases of goals (early, middle and late phases). It's so thin, I carry it with me when seeing client's, it's very helpful when I'm doing my treatment plans!

Excellent book - highly recommended

I own a lot of pattern drafting books, and I collect vintage ones, which is how I first came to buy this one. I work in the garment industry, but I do not work as a patternmaker professionally, so my point of view is really one of an educated and knowledgeable amateur. I do draft a lot of patterns however. I only tell you this so you can see what type of knowledge and attitude I bring to this book.

This is a self-published book. The author is a New Zealander, which is why the book is in metric. Ms Stringer taught patternmaking at evening classes at a New Zealand high school for 40 years, and this book is basically the accumulation of her notes and experience from those classes. Because of her background this is the best book I have found for explaining "why" you should make particular alterations.

For example "When the waist measurement is small in comparison with the hip size, rather a sharp angle occurs in the side seam of the foundation (block). Dart allowances help to give a more workable line that will fit without wrinkling. The darts themselves can either be stitched in, or their sideseam allowance absorbed in the design". Now isn't that nice, simple, plain language, and perfectly clear? Yet some books completely fail to mention this at all and a newbie can wonder why they end up with waist wrinkles when they drafted a block perfectly from the measurements.

The tone of writing is exactly as if the author is just over your shoulder, talking you through your draft, explaing why this works best, and why sometimes you have to do that.

Ch 5 (29 pages) Collars, lapels and necklines; colalrs, lepels/revers, shawl collars, shaped and lowered necklines, raised necklines, cowls, flounces.
Ch 6 (17 pages)Sleeves; arm measurement, sleeve block, short sleeves, 3/4 sleeves, long sleeves, cuffs
Ch 7 (11 pages) Magyar styles; magyar foundation, cap sleeves, dolman sleeves, raglan sleeves

There's a full 4 page index, so it is easy to find what you're looking for.

There is a fantastic crotch-line chart, giving relative crotch depths and extensions for pyjama, panties, rompers/bloomers, trousers & shorts, tailored pants, culottes, cat suits, briefs, and stretch pants. I wish more contemprary nightwear manufacturers realised you do not want the same crotch depth on pyjamas as you do on dress pants.

The reason I have not given it five stars is that there are no photographs , line drawings only. I think it's easier if you can see an actual photo of what an incorrectly cut sleeve/collar etc look like on a figure, so you can recognise them again. However the drawings are very clear and there is extensive labelling. Also the details such as seam allowance etc are given for home dressmaking use, and not to commercial standards.

I strongly recommend getting this book if you see it cheaply; it is the best book for the beginner that I've found (better than Helen Armstrong and a million times better then Winifrid Aldrich).

from what I understand it is best to use metric when pattern making

I read this book on a slideshow and I had to own a copy. I am a beginner pattern maker and I have bought several books, and this is the ONLY book that holds my hand and gives me all the why's. Also, a lot of books tend to lean toward the draping method, which is not practical for me. This book is metric, however, from what I understand it is best to use metric when pattern making.

Great book, but it is all in METRIC!

This book is very well written, and can take an intermediate home sewer into pattern drafting (creating patterns on paper using measurements and math) with little to no difficulty. The one thing to be forewarned about is that this book uses the metric system, which will require new rulers, tape measures, etc. That difficulty aside, I can not reccomend this book enough. Drafting methods for basic shifts, sleeves, pants, and skirts are given. In addition numerous variations are given, such as kimono sleeves, bikini tops, princess lines and guidelines for drafting men's and children's clothes.

I looked at many books on drafting before choosing this one, and I can honestly say it is the best I have seen

Good book

Good book. Clara is a single mother who owns her own bakery and works hard to give her son the best life she can. She's stunned to get a visit from a lawyer who informs her that her son's father, a man she hasn't seen in four years, has died. And instead of being the beach bum she thought he was, he was a member of a very wealthy family, and her son has inherited his father's millions. Now she and Hank have been invited to New York to meet his family.

Clara is very nervous and not sure what to expect. She never knew her parents, and was raised in the foster care system. The Dunbarton's lifestyle is completely outside her comfort zone. It doesn't help that her son's uncle, while being her ex's twin in looks is totally different in personality. Her first impression is that he is a cold, ruthless workaholic who has no idea how to relate to her and her son.

I liked Clara a lot. She's a bit of a workaholic herself, but she works very hard to give Hank all the love and attention she never received herself. She's not sure what to expect from Grant and his mother, and is very afraid that they might try to take Hank away from her. As she gets to know Grant, she sees that there is more to him than she expected.

Grant took over running the family business even though his brother had been the older of the two. When their father died when they were kids, Brent went from planning to run the business when they grew up to becoming more irresponsible and child-like. Grant felt a great responsibility to the family legacy and gave up his own dreams to run it. He never plans to have a wife and family of his own, feeling that he is married to the business instead.

I loved seeing their relationship develop. It didn't take long for Clara to see that, in spite of his claims, Grant really wasn't happy with his life. I liked all the little things that she said and did to try to bring some happiness back into his life. She fought against the attraction she felt to him, knowing that nothing could come of it. It was pretty sweet to see the influence that Clara and Hank had on Grant, as he slowly began to see that his life was pretty empty. It was fun to see him loosen up as he talked to Clara about the fish in his aquarium, and lay on his back looking at the stars painted on the dining room ceiling. I ached for them both when Clara and Hank went back to Georgia, believing that the other didn't care the same way.

The ending was really romantic. While I wasn't entirely surprised by what Grant did, there were parts of his actions that were unexpected. I was especially surprised by what his mother did. The epilogue was really great.

I really liked Grant's mother. I had been afraid that she was going to be the type to steal Hank away, or cold and snobby to Clara. She did seem to go a little overboard with some of the things she did, but I loved the way that she embraced both Hank and Clara. There were times when she seemed like a big kid herself.

The story is about Clara Easton's life when a windfall comes her way after the carefree man who fathered her son (who was really a Park Avenue gold) has dies leaving his fortune to her son Hank. Now she's spending the holidays in dazzling New York City with the man's family, including his sexy twin brother Grant who is a real workaholic. But Grant Dunbarton is not like the fun-loving charmer who swept Clara off her feet. As time goes by Grant finds himself drawn to Clara and understands that she is not what she appears to be (a gold-digger). It is amazing how Clara opens Grant's eyes to what life is all about. A heart warming story!
