absolutely fantastic

Amazing book. Excellent photographs and imaging, and just enough writing to cover the gist of it. I read it as a supplement in med school, for personal interest, and long articles would've made me put it aside. This is NOT a treatment guide but really an atlas of conditions that may present to peds ER. I found a case I saw in the ER that puzzled me and had to show the book to my attending. I also made a great presentation about child abuse based off this.

Britain is now at a crossroads in its history almost as grave as the one encountered in 1939. Just around the corner are years of civil unrest, industrial action, religious strife and terrorist activity. Soon to come are restrictions placed on our liberties, our schools, our courts and drastic reductions in our living standards. This book examines the legacy that mass migration has left Britain and the prospects for its survival as a democratic nation state.

Free speech at last on immigration

I work in education and I've read much of the literature on immigration available through official channels. This book has been a revelation, it is by far the most accurate and truthful work on a subject dominated by PC bullying and misinformation. Having to work where pro-immigration propaganda is standard you begin to doubt the evidence of your own eyes and wonder if the world has gone mad. Thanks to this book I know that there is at least one voice out there speaking for the silent majority on this issue and I commend the author for his courage.

For anyone who is interested in eCommerce, Magento development, or web development in general, you will want to read this book, which covers in depth, the long awaited and highly anticipated Magento 2 platform. I was fortunate enough to have been the technical reviewer for this book and I must say even I'm impressed by the attention to detail and thoroughness of the topics covered. The author Branko Ajzele is as top notch as it gets in the world of eCommerce and the Magento sphere. Branko lays it all out from setting up your local development environments, to unit-testing, to advanced module/extension development. All readers— from frontend to backend developers, from noobs to senior developers & engineers, and even people who are new to the Magento platform will benefit from reading this book in more ways than you can imagine. It will take your skill set to the next level and also put you ahead of the game with other developers.

Excellent guide for developers

Magento 2 Developer's Guide is exactly what the title indicates: an excellent guide through the logic, file structures and setup of Magento 2 that is firmly aimed at PHP developers. If you are looking for a starting point to understand how Magneto 2 works, and how you can configure and extend Magento to meet your site requirements, then this book is where you should start.

None of the topics are covered in depth, which allows this book to provide a firm overview of Magento and yet gives you enough detail that you feel confident exploring topics on your own. The chapter on themes, for example, does not provide you with a step-by-step guide on how to make complex frontends (indeed, such a topic would be its own book). Instead it shows you exactly how themes are structured, which for an experienced developer allows you to understand the overall structure. For me, this was far more useful than a step-by-step tutorial.

This is not a guide on how to setup and manage Magento as an eCommerce platform. If you're looking for an introduction to using Magento, then this book is not for you. However if you're fluent in PHP and have a requirement to learn the Magento 2 platform, then this book is exactly what you're looking for.

Essential book that every Magento 2 developer should read

This is a complete and easy to follow introduction to all the basics of Magento 2. I have really enjoyed reading the book and doing the example module, which is nicely explained and gives you enough insight to tackle any complex requirement. One month before this book was available, I paid $280 for the "Fundamentals of Magento 2 Development" online course offered by Magento, and I wish I would have waited a little longer for this book, since it’s more than enough to grasp the basics, cost much less and doesn’t have errors in the example code like the Magento’s video-tutorial has. I definitely recommend this book to any developer with some previous experience in Magento 1.

If you are really curious on torturing yourself you may try to read that 6 font size published book. Line spacing is the narrowest. There are also some hand drawings among sentences like brackets or arrows or underlined sentences which gives you an impression that as if that book was photocopied from a used one in the smallest font. Before ordering that book although I benefited from look inside facility I couldn't recognize how it was published. It is impossible to read it without a magnifier and pain in your eyes.

Since the mid-twentieth century they have been seen as a set characterizing all possible phonological distinctions and as an integral part of Universal Grammar, the innate language faculty underlying successive versions of Chomskyan generative theory. The usefulness of distinctive features in phonological analysis is uncontroversial, but the supposition that features are innate and universal rather than learned and language-specific has never, until now, been systematically tested. In his pioneering account Jeff Mielke presents the results of a crosslinguistic survey of natural classes of distinctive features covering almost six hundred of the world's languages drawn from a variety of different families. He shows that no theory is able to characterize more than 71 percent of classes, and further that current theories, deployed either singly or collectively, do not predict the range of classes that occur and recur. He reveals the existence of apparently unnatural classes in many languages. Even without these findings, he argues, there are reasons to doubt whether distinctive features are innate: for example, distinctive features used in signed languages are different from those in spoken languages, even though deafness is generally not hereditary.

The author explains the grouping of sounds into classes and concludes by offering a unified account of what previously have been considered to be natural and unnatural classes. The data on which the analysis is based are freely available in a program downloadable from the publisher's web site.

About the Author

Jeff Mielke is Assistant Professor of Linguistics at the University of Ottawa. In 2003 he was awarded the Presidential Fellowship at Ohio State University and achieved his PhD the following year. He then undertook postdoctoral research at the Phonological Imaging Laboratory at the University of Arizona before moving to Ottawa in 2006.
